TOB / Workshops

Completing the workshops helped with both initial idea generation and with feeling more confident with software such as TouchDesigner, allowing me to experiment and push my own ideas further.

Working with charcoal, magazines, and music, Jane and Dan helped us reimagine various barriers in everyday spaces as abstract visuals. Whilst we were sorting through magazines and making small mixed media pieces, I noticed small details in the photos that might look good under my photo-scanning app, which abstracts the contracted areas and results in a grainy, scattered appearance. I took pictures of both environments and people to serve as a guide to the differences I found. This was the beginning of taking photos and abstracting them through photo scanning.

In the workshops with Sunni and Mario, we were taught how to project our own visuals onto different materials whilst navigating the limitations of the projectors and space so people did not walk in front of the visuals. This was a really good starter course to understanding what we wanted to do for our final installation.
