BACKGROUNDS
For the backgrounds I took inspiration from my teammates previous project, using natural elements as backgrounds. So, I went on a walk and took photographs of anything that I felt fit the aesthetic of our project. As our theme was set under water, I gravitated towards lakes, ponds and shadows of water. Overlapping these different elements is what brought together one of my backgrounds. It was interesting to see what could be made from multiple different images.
I zoomed in on different areas of the same image to create a boil, overlayed different elements and passed it to my teammate, who took the file and played with the editing in aftereffects. In the end, it was something we had collaborated on and we were happy with using this as one of our backgrounds.
My second background was made using acrylic paint, layering it on thick and blending in different blue tones whilst they were not dry. I used a variety of tools to create texture, a sponge, adding salt and scrapping with different tools. It was fun to experiment and so I made three, enjoying the process and immersing myself in it completely.
I scanned each piece through the printer, one in particular stood out to me and so I split it into three and began playing with the values on procreate.
