Monochrome – Into the woods / images from books

I found some fun books in my attic, such as old geology books, a Slavic children’s story tales book, and a few scattered comic books like ‘The Girl from the Other Side’ that solely use black and white images. I wanted to find books with pictures under the brief ‘monochrome’. I then scanned these in with my printer, producing delicate and detailed photos. I preferred the images created from the printer; it almost edited them, lighting and darkening certain areas. I found some exciting textures and spent nearly a full day with my head in books, realising how beautiful the world is through these geology records and how astonishingly different Slovak art appears to me.
