Once I had narrowed down to a character I could confidently draw repetitively, I decided to take my design digitally. Using the ink tool on Procreate, I removed complex details to make it easier to animate. I found it challenging to keep a steady medium between a character with unique aspects but not too complex. After careful decision making, I was happy with my character and made an expression sheet of the necessary facial expressions. I watched several interviews to study the movement of the person’s face and made small studies that aided me in realistic expressions.
Moving towards creating a turnaround sheet proved very challenging, as it was my first time rotating a character. However, by implementing guidelines, I was able to keep each limb and facial feature aligned. I made sure to colour-code my lines to split up sections, resulting in quicker drawings. It helped me gather more information and appear less overwhelming when it was chopped into parts.
